Music, Mayhem, & Golf

Hello again! Still think that we are boring?! Good news, this is a week full of music. There are no major headlines this week, but I think some of the best music is in the smaller venues. For the rap/Hip-Hop lovers Mystikal will be at America's Pub on Friday, July 8th at 8pm. America's Pub is located in Bricktown at 115 E. Sheridian. I'm not a big hip-hop/rap fan but I'm sure it'll still be one heck of a party. If it sounds like your kind of bag, check it out.

For those with a more folksy, bluesy taste in music have to check out Shelly Phelps at the Red Cup on Friday July 8th at 7pm. The Red Cup is a groovy little coffehouse located at 3122 N. Classen. A buddy of mine works there and if the Aussie's  baking, you should be buying. He is phenomenal! (Just don't tell him I said so or he'll get a big head.)

If you would rather have a little mayhem with your music, check out The Planets Align with Mandala and Killer Ghandi, 9pm Friday at VZD's. VZD's is 4200 N. Western.  Admission is $5. I'm not sure how to describe this band, just go with an open mind and expect to have a good time.

As for me, I'm all about golf this week. Brookside Golf Course located at 9016 S. Shields Blvd. has a afternoon special running. Monday-Friday after noon. 2 people, 18 rounds, 1 cart for 16.29 each. For someone who hasn't picked up her clubs in 3 years and will probably lose more than 16.29 in golf balls that is a heck of a deal. They do not accept tee times, walk-ons only. They do have a dress code, but it is slightly more lax than most golf courses. It's a decent course, a little cramped at times, but it has one heck of water hazard late in the course. For me, it has sentimental value, my grandpa used to play there 4-6 times a week. Kevin, I know that you could play any course in the country, including your own backyard, but for those of us who don't want to spend a year's salary (ours, not yours) on course dues, it's a good alternative. I am going to get my golf on later this week, so I hope that you go out and do something fun too.

Next week.... it'll be a surprise.
